JV Poster – High Dive 2014

10/20/2014 by ehaldi

Rock Poster for our band, The JV and our buddies Def Leprechaun and Post Adolescence. We were going to each play a David Bowie song in our sets which inspired this ‘Spider From Mars’ theme. It was also October and nearly Halloween and I saw this  image in my head that could have the spider-ship look like a pumpkin from a distance or at first glance.

Photoshop sketch inspired by Emma Watson as I watched and listened to her speak about gender equality to the UN for the #HEFORSHE campaign. Compelling stuff. I’m in. Done in Photoshop

Wiffleball 2014

08/28/2014 by ehaldi

2014 was the 25th anniversary of Nirvana’s seminal album, Nevermind and we thought we’d honor that by incorporating the theme into our Wiffle Ball Tournament and use our baseball head character in the scene. This character has been through all 18 years with us. I just wasn’t all that comfortable drawing the private parts on him…and since we play Wiffle in bare feet and shorts…this seemed more appropriate. Water is hard to portray in one color, I’ll say that. […]

Cascade Bruin Football 2014 T-shirt Design

08/25/2014 by ehaldi

Custom T-shirt Design for Cascade Bruins Football 2014, ‘Finish the Fight’.   The team brought me the slogan ‘Finish the Fight’. So, I designed this to look like a Bruin Bear just punched the wearer of the shirt with his giant paw…he means to finish this fight after all. It’s meant to look good printed in different colors on multiple different colored shirts. Now all they gotta do I guess is go finish it, Go Bruins! Vector art Created in Adobe Illustrator

Goodman Bowling Tourney

07/09/2014 by ehaldi

Goodman Real Estate has a bowling tournament every year and they have t-shirts made for the event. I’ve been doing their shirts for awhile and they always turn out best when they have a distinct theme…especially since the shirts are always the same company color scheme. It’s certainly challenging to make them feel unique and exciting year to year. In 2014, their them was Mad Men the television series. This image is so iconic I just followed its lead and made it work […]

Hawaii Five-O!

06/27/2014 by ehaldi

Tracy was having a big 50th birthday party with some friends over in Hawaii, and wanted shirts and other swag to give to her special guests…y’know, something fun with her image on it and commemorating the trip. Nothing like locks of hair that turn into a flowered lei for your birthday, I say.   It’s always challenging but fun to figure out a one color screen print design; bold but with sufficient detail.

KJ 2014 Player of the Year

06/26/2014 by ehaldi

My Godson KJ was the Everett Herald 2014 All Area Player of the Year in his senior baseball Season, leading them to their second straight State Baseball Tournament appearance. As he graduated high school, I wanted to give him something more than just the cash that is customary these days; something more personal. He’s a great kid with an electric smile…bright as his future.

JV March Madness

02/11/2014 by ehaldi

I love making posters for shows that our band plays. The other bands seem to get a kick out of my designs as well which is also a lot of fun. One of the best parts is trying to make it conceptual…even though I bet most people don’t really search that hard for the ‘deeper meaning’ in them…doesn’t matter, I know it’s there. In this case, we are playing in Fremont, a hip little community close to the city in […]

Goodman Bowling 2011

01/28/2014 by ehaldi

Another design for the Goodman Real Estate Annual Bowling Tournament. I love it when they have a theme for me to dive into…in 2011 the owner John Goodman was racing his car in Monaco (I know, super cool right?!). This design was inspired by the vintage racing posters from the Monaco Grand Prix Races (I just LOVE those designs). Who wouldn’t want a bowling pin car? This was surely one of my favorite designs I’ve done for them, I was […]

South Everett Little League

01/25/2014 by ehaldi

My old Little League needed a new logo. They needed ‘A’ logo…something that they could use in multiple areas and something with which they could brand everything that they do. When I learned what year the league was established I thought it was cool that it had that much history and wanted to keep a classic theme with a slightly more modern feel to it.   The Black and White Version.   For the Hats and Jersey’s of the younger teams, the idea […]

Backyard Sports Intro

01/24/2014 by ehaldi

Backyard Football 07-08 intro sequence. Starring Tom Brady (human and cartoon) and the Backyard Kids. Directed by Erik Haldi Animated by Rafael Calonzo and Tom Witte Music by Chris Bellew When Backyard Sports focused on the console market, and once the art style had been updated for a 3rd time. We had to find some ways to be judicious with our money. One way I thought that would be effective is to create one intro…like a saturday morning cartoon, and […]

Mystic Cowgirl Camp

01/23/2014 by ehaldi

Done with Illustrator and Photoshop As part 2 of the rebranding of Stacey J Warner, Life | Business | Equus Coach (see logo here- ),  Stacey was looking for an image to represent a series of events that she hosts called ‘Mystic Cowgirl Camp’. As with the logo that we redid, we needed to make a new  version of the collateral image. She really didn’t like what she had as it looked like a children’s book, which was definitely NOT […]

HE: Smithsonian Teaser Video

01/21/2014 by ehaldi

When we were just getting started on the production of the Hidden Expedition: Smithsonian – Hope Diamond game we were presented a very cool and unique opportunity. Starbucks wanted to feature a previously released game as its iOS download of the week: Hidden Expedition: Amazon (on iOs). Our team was in charge of creating a teaser for the Hope Diamond game and inserting it into the re-release. We were just getting started creating assets so there wasn’t much to put […]

Lee Bee Coaching

01/17/2014 by ehaldi

Primary Logo  Website Banner Created in Adobe Illustrator Sometimes it really works that you do some work for someone, and the next thing you know, someone in their circle/industry loves what you did for that person and wants you to do that for them too. Lee Bee Coaching was one of those cool instances. Lisa saw my  personalized logo for Stacey J. Warner (also a coach), and wanted me to help her get that same feeling for her new business. There […]

HE: In game UI design

11/11/2013 by ehaldi

In the Hidden Expedition: Smithsonian Hope Diamond game we wanted to do a few things different regarding the in game UI. Nothing too drastic though, just a few wrinkles. Most games have inventory that occupies the lower middle of the screen, and always has an ‘interface-y’ feel to it. And it always felt like a blocker to me. We had this idea of a backpack that you would take with you during your adventure…so we literally created a backpack. When […]

Jungle Bluff Hidden Object Scene

11/11/2013 by ehaldi

To continue the theme of players not just stumbling onto a random list of items to find in a scene, this is our Jungle Bluff. In this Hidden Object scene, the player had to collect items for their backpack, yep the one hanging in the tree. The player had just escaped by jumping out of a moving train and their pack landed in the tree, and the cards you see in the corner float down to the ground prompting the […]

Smithsonian Gift Shop Hidden Object Scene

11/09/2013 by ehaldi

In this example of a trying to give the player a new way to experience a new way to get a list of items to find, we made a Gift Shop from the Smithsonian. We let them know first that we understand that this is NOT the way that they actually look…not this messy! Upon entering the room there would be a receipt waving in the cash register to the right, when it was clicked, the receipt would appear along […]

Hidden Object Scene Designs

11/09/2013 by ehaldi

Hidden Object Scene Design. Trying to revolutionize the way people experience finding objects. When Bill Meyer, Jeff Haynie and I sat down to think about our goal: engage players with new mechanics for playing Hidden Object scenes we first thought why? Well, because this genre was so stale and with new games coming out every day or every other day that were essentially ALL THE SAME we thought that we NEEDED to do something different. We looked at games that […]

Stacey J Warner Logo

10/31/2013 by ehaldi

Stacey J Warner is an Intuitive Coach, and she works in Life Coaching, Business Coaching and Equus Coaching. She set out to start to brand her self and her business…but she ran into a problem. When she hired someone to do her logo and her brand identity, she found herself with a logo that violated copyright laws (lesson, you get what you pay for!). I wanted to help her with this situation and we got together to talk about what […]

‘The Device’

10/23/2013 by ehaldi

Hidden Expedition: Smithsonian, Hope Diamond. This is ‘The Device’. I wanted a way for the player to get messages from the people that were helping them along their journey, but who may have been working a world away and this is what we designed for our contraption. This was designed to look like it was an antique of sorts…but still functional for what the player needed. There was a visual design and a thematic tone to this game that was very […]

Hope Diamond Intro Storyboard

10/23/2013 by ehaldi

As the Co-Designer/Producer of this project/adventure game I really wanted to sink my teeth into getting the intro to a place where the story was really being set up for the user, creating some mystery and wonder. The story of the Hope Diamond is so amazing, and this intro helps sell the legend that drove our fact meets fiction tale. The images story board is from my original scribbles, I wrote the dialogue and set up the scene as well. […]

U.S. History Bobblehead Game

10/23/2013 by ehaldi

These sketches were the design for a U.S. History Bobblehead matching game, that went into Hidden Expedition: Smithsonian, Hope Diamond. A big chunk of our game occurred in Washington DC and you just can’t go there and not think about US history…it’s everywhere. We needed a puzzle for you to gain access to something, so you had to help this person with their souvenir bobble heads. The goal of the game was to match the 3 pieces (Head, Torso and Legs/Base). Grossman Course Design Logo

Jeff Grossman does work as a Golf Course Designer and he came to me looking for a logo for his business. He had some ideas about what he wanted, but as it works a lot of times there are too many ideas and they need to be simplified and made to be more elegant. He had the idea of having a very hand drawn/brush stroke kind of green and when I started doing that it just appeared to me…a G […]

Backyard Sports Book Series

Backyard Sports Story Books. I have always loved books, in particular kids books. When I was working as Creative Director for Humongous Inc. we signed a deal with Grosset & Dunlap (Stonesong Press) to do a multi-book series to support our Backyard Sports Video Game brand, I was so excited. Michael Teitelbaum (writer) them and Ron Zalme (illustrator) were selected by the publisher and they got started. The original direction was to put these kids into these super fantastical situations and […]

The JV. a band

10/22/2013 by ehaldi

Every band needs a logo. I think every one and every thing could get away with having a logo. My band is no different. We play old punk and post punk classics (Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedy’s, Joy Division, The Cult, Psychedelic Furs, The Clash) and so on. The fun story behind where the name came from…we were having a big high school reunion where multiple graduating years could attend. We hired a band and they said ‘how long is this […]

The Aztecs Baseball team

10/22/2013 by ehaldi

My nephew and his baseball team decided that they wanted to be called the Aztecs this year. When they asked me to make them a logo, I started to research what the Aztec people were really all about, and damn they were fascinating! I find with logos like this, the more authentic and researched the subject is the more natural is that they feel when you design the mark…and when designing for a culture it made it all the more […]

Wiffleball Tournament T-Shirt 2013

2013 Wiffle Shirt Every year, for the last 17 years, my brother and I host a Wiffleball Tournament for our friends. We have made T Shirts every year and the theme changes every year to something that we see in the world or on TV or wherever. Wiffleball Tourney Tshirt 2007

10/22/2013 by ehaldi

This was a crowd favorite, our Baseball-head guy as Angus Young of AC/DC. we were really into AC DC this summer and Angus is an unmistakable icon, with an unmistakable pose. I had always struggled drawing guitars so this one really challenged me. It’s not that hard when you are listening to AC DC…it just sort of comes to you. Notice the little wiffleballs as Guitar Tuning Knobs. Someone should make those. This type is classic hard rock/heavy metal type…and […]

This was one of my favorite games of all time, and my designer, Nick Mirkovich was awesome to put this in my hands and let me get to it. It was also supposed to support other sports with minimal redesign. The resolution sure has come a long way! This screen sets up the world series matchup, of the game you are about […]

My first job out of art school was as a production artist for Colores International, a windsock company. I did a lot of preparing artwork for silkscreening (including using a stat camera, who know’s what that is?). One day early in my job there, a sales man came into the art den and said, ‘I’d like to pitch a unique idea to the NFL, something more than putting their team logos onto regular windsocks…anybody got any ideas?’ Well, a few […]

The J.V. St. Patty’s Day

10/21/2013 by ehaldi

The JV was playing a show with some friends of our that were in two other bands. We had a 3 band lineup, and I had this image of a bartender offering 3 kinds of beer ( I mean it’s St. Paddy’s Day, it had to be beer). I love going to bars where they actually list what the beer is and what you can expect when you get it. I wanted to interpret that idea on this poster, […]

Wiffleball Tournament Tshirt 2009

10/21/2013 by ehaldi

We keep gravitating to music as themes for these shirts. It’s something my brother and I are both totally into and there is such great visuals for different styles of music. We talked about doing a punk rock themed version. We’ve done individual artists before (Elvis, Angus Young) and thought maybe a shoe group would be cool. The JV playing an awesome Memorial Day gig in Ballard (Seattle). It was a Sunday night and all I could think about was those awesome drag race commercials from when I was a kid ‘Sunday! Sunday! Attack of the JV!

10/21/2013 by ehaldi

This was for one of our first shows as a band, at a small bar in Lynnwood. I wanted to portray us (tongue and cheek of course) that we were a huge band taking over a little tiny bar…and I had this image in my mind of a Amp Stack that comes to life and stomps this little bar, just like Godzilla might. Wiffleball Tourney TShirt 2012

10/20/2013 by ehaldi

The theme for 2012’s Wiffleball Tournament was inspired by the speculation that it would be the last year of the Blue Angels coming to Seafair (usually the tournament lands on the saturday of sea fair).
